General Rules Regarding Assembly Area, Parade Line Up & Parade

Entry numbers and section maps will be mailed 1 week prior to the event. Be sure and bring your section map with you on parade day. Please report to the parade official in your section beginning at 3:00 PM. Entries MUST be present 1 hour prior to the start of the parade.

All entries must maintain a space of 50 feet from the entry ahead. If an entry stalls or stops, the parade will move around it. Any entry not completing the route as a complete unit will be disqualified. The determination of entry placement and category is governed by the Parade Director and is final.

If paper is used in the construction of an entry, the paper must be flame retardant. A fire extinguisher (size 2A-10BC or larger) is required on all entries. Floats will be inspected by the Redding Fire Department in the staging area.

Bands must play continuously, with no more than eight complete cadences between selections. Forward motion must be maintained at all times.

All vehicle entries must play Christmas music.

Any entry violating the rules governing the parade will be immediately removed from the parade and will be subject to disqualification from future parade participation.

Trophies will be awarded following the conclusion of the parade in the Pioneer Plaza of the Downtown Redding Mall. Please make every effort to attend the awards ceremony. Entertainment will be provided while the judges tabulate the parade results. Trophies not claimed at the awards presentation must be picked up at Rite Aid Drugstore at Westside Village. Judge's decisions are FINAL.

This is a holiday parade and children are especially encouraged to participate, as individuals or as a group. We welcome commercial floats, and tasteful advertising is allowed.

Route: South on California to Sacramento, left onto Sacramento to Pine, left onto Pine to Butte. Additional information on route and assembly will be sent with parade numbers. To return to staging area please follow designated route on parade route map.
